Bryan Smith General Great photos taken by someone that left us way too soon. I'm glad you have been able to post them and display Gary's fine work. This would have been before CTC came to the old Southern line between Macon and Atlanta and train orders ruled the day. I worked with NS at this time and worked quite a bit in Macon and Atlanta. Back then a train had a unique number designating the service it offered. For example 230 would have been the northbound pig train from Jacksonville to Cincinnati. The dispatcher would have run it on whatever schedule was available in the timetable meaning 230's train could operate on 160's schedule or perhaps 160's train could operate as first 230 while 230's train ran as a second 230. The train order authorization had nothing to do with what type train or its end points. Such as the case here. While this may be first 230 it doesn't appear to be 230's train since 230 was all pigs. I worked a lot of 3rd trick operators jobs at Brosnan and it was very common t 7/16/2016 9:30:18 AM
